Good afternoon:
As we head into our second week of the JV/V season and first week of the developmental season there are just a few items to address:
1. Score control – As a reminder, teams are capped at a 7 goal differential at both the JV/V levels and the developmental levels. I have received a few reports of goal differentials in excess of 10, or even 15 goals, which is unacceptable. I know that coaching the kids, especially the younger ones, can be a challenge, but as a coach it is your responsibility to have control of your team. Failure to adhere to this rule can result in sanctions on offending teams, including, but not limited to setting aside the win at the JV/V level if it were to happen at the DSL tournament, setting aside the win there (which could likely cause your team not to advance out of bracket). Please refer to the rules for strategies on score control and let me know if you have any questions, and below is a list of some score control methods that I have found useful over the years:
- Switch player positions
