DSL – End of Season Wrap Up

Good morning:

I just wanted to reach out to you all and thank you for your efforts this season.  This season doesn't happen without the hard work of a lot of people, so thank you.  Before we look ahead to Spring 25 I also wanted to recognize our JV/V teams that made it to the championship games this weekend.   The list of matchups and winners are listed below:
  • JV USL – Butler Catholic defeated Ave Maria White 7-5.
  • JV MLS – Sacred Heart Red and St. James were tied through regulation play and overtime and Sacred Heart prevailed in penalty kicks.
  • JV Premier – St. Kilian Green and Aquinas were tied through regulation play and overtime and St. Kilian prevailed in penalty kicks.
  • V USL – Ave Maria White defeated Holy Sepulcher 7-3.
  • V MLS – St. James defeated Blessed Seelos 8-2.
  • V Premier –  St. Kilian White and
Sacred Heart Red were tied through regulation play and overtime and St. Kilian prevailed in penalty kicks.
Looking ahead to next spring, below is the timeline.  Registration will open January 1 and close February 21.  Each school will need to register their teams on or before February 21.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out, but not that I will be travelling January 2 through the 15 and won't be able to respond to emails/texts/phone calls until I return.  Schools that play on turf, if you can try to get home game times lined up in week 1 and 2, I will to push as many of those first week games to turf to avoid the inevitable field cancellations that plague us in early spring.

Finally, I know that we have looked into this in the past, but a few schools would like me to check and see if there would be any interest in an all girls JV/Varsity teams.  The way it would work is that it would be in addition to the regular co-ed teams and girls would play for both teams, their co-ed and the all girls.  The all girls team would start with a format of 5v5 and play a shorter season, probably between 4 and 6 games, depending on registered team numbers.  That format size could be revisited in future seasons, but for now, we are setting a lower number to try to capture as many teams as possible. There is a possibility for postseason play (perhaps instead of or in addition to our already existing all girls tournament), but I'd need to work on a few things before getting that into effect, it could happen this season, but it is not guaranteed.  What I am asking is that each school's soccer coordinator let me know before February 1 if their school would be interested in participating and if so how many teams and at what age groups.  If we have enough schools interested, we will try to make a go of it.
