DSL Tournament Reminder

Coaches:

Just a few reminders as we head into the tournament this Saturday:
1. Prepare for the weather.  Current forecast has the day being a little cooler and a little rainier than what we are used to for the Spring Tournament.  Team tents are allowed in the designated area, and dry socks and a spare set of dry cleats is never a bad idea with rain in the forecast.  As long as there is no lightning, all games will go on as scheduled and if there is lightning we will have a delay until any danger has passed.
2. Two big things that each coach needs to have ready to go are team rosters and the registration fee of $125. Both are needed to be handed into the registration tent prior to your first game.   We recommend checking into the registration tent at least 30 minutes prior to your first scheduled game.
3. Be mindful of the facility rules and remember no picnic styler set ups are permitted and neither are pets.  Attendants will stop you from bringing pets or food into the venue (beyond small snacks, etc they can fit in a six pack sized cooler). The venue has a couple of places available to grab food and beverages as needed too.
4. Be early and ready to go for your games.  We have 133 games to get in one day.  The schedule is aggressive and teams that are not ready to go won't fare well. We don’t have time to wait for late teams as it would wreck the entire day’s schedule. if you aren’t there in a timely manner, a forfeit will most likely be assessed and we will move onto the next game.
5. Tournament standings will be manually kept at the registration tent and can be followed by scanning the tournament QR code at the tent.  Once your three play-in games are complete, check in to see if your team has advanced to the semis and/finals. if we can’t find you and you are not at the field for your scheduled playoff game you will forfeit.
6. Sportsmanship- please have your team exhibit it.  After you are up on a team by 4 goals, pump the brakes.  nothing over a 4 goal differential counts towards standings or tie breakers. If the goal differential exceeds 7 goals inquiries will be made and we reserve the right to set aside the results of that game.   In other words, if you find yourself beating a team by 8 or more goals during the course of a 20 minute match, don’t be surprised if you don’t get credit for the win.
7. Lastly, have fun and make sure the kids have fun.  The point of the tournament is to let the kids celebrate a great season of soccer and have fun. Winning (or losing) is secondary, if not tertiary.
If you have any questions during the day stop by the registration tent and we will do our best to help you along.
